Rip Van Winkle and us:

Do you ever feel like that little old guy with the foot-long beard, meaning you slept for 20 years and now that you’ve awakened, you don’t recognize the world you’re in? Carl Trueman’s book, “The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self: Cultural Amnesia, Expressive Individualism, and the Road to Sexual Revolution” helps explain how and why we got here. I highly recommend this book if you’d like a great resource on identity issues. He delves into LGBTQ+ and our broken culture; you and I are sinners individually and as part of a culture, so our sin(s) affect(s) us affect us individually and our community/culture as well.

By now, if you’ve read this far, you may be thinking, “That’s great, Tracey, but why are you telling us this? I want to always point you – individually & in the context of Sunday School groups – to Scripture and it as the active and living source of right thinking and right conduct. I also want to recommend lesser (compared to Scripture) but well-written resources that will help you solidify your thinking and understanding of Scripture. Still, Scripture should always be the basis of your learning and teaching, especially in our Sunday School ministry.

Peace, Tracey
